School Visits
Author school visits are one of the best ways to get students excited about reading and writing! Meeting an author can be one of the most memorable and influential events in a student's academic year, and are a fantastic way to engage reluctant readers. Jess has been doing school presentations for over twelve years, and has spoken to thousands of students all over the country. She does small groups to large assemblies, interactive writing workshops, and career and college presentations, sharing the writing process and how stories go from ideas to finished books.

Jess is happy to sign books at her visits, and asks that students be given time to order copies in advance of the presentation. The more familiar students are with Jess's books, the more beneficial the visit will be for everyone involved! Jess recommends, but does not require, students read books in advance.

Special Visits
Jess also visits libraries, festivals, and conferences! She can present on a range of topics such as the writing process, getting published, writing for children, drawing fantasy maps, and world building for science fiction and fantasy. She also loves doing group events with other authors such as panel discussions and book signings! Rates for special events may vary from her usual fees.
